Syde House History – Originally a tenanted part of the Henry Lord Hastings Estate and believed to have been built in circa 1648 using recycled materials from the slighted Ashby Castle, the house and land formed and small holding of around 6 Acres. At this time Ashby road had several of these small holdings along its eastern boundary. Syde House is the only survivor and therefore Grade II listed. The house has stayed in the Estates hands until approximately 1900 when it was sold to the Poxon family (see early photo) and had changed hands a further three times in the last century or so.
